Coach Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins are nearing the end of their fourth consecutive offseason search for a defensive coordinator.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the New Orleans Saints will schedule a second interview with Anthony Weaver for their open head coaching position on Wednesday.
The Saints and Chicago Bears have expressed interest in Weaver, who previously interviewed for positions with the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons last offseason. Pelissero also confirmed that Mike Kafka, the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants, will be interviewed again.
Weaver, known for his ability to connect with players, played 103 games in the NFL over seven seasons before pursuing a coaching career.

While the Dolphins did not make the playoffs in 2024, his impact was felt as the defense ranked eighth in points per game (20.8) and sixth in opponent yards per game (314.4), despite the absence of top edge rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips for the majority of the season.
Weaver was the Houston Texans’ defensive coordinator in 2020 before joining the Baltimore Ravens as defensive line coach and being promoted to assistant head coach the following year. Miami’s defense wasn’t flashy and Weaver doesn’t come with the promise to develop a quarterback, but as a coach and a leader, it’s easy to see why he has caught the eye of multiple franchises around the league
