Jordan admitted that he did not believe Eddie Howe had ‘the chops’ to take on the challenge of managing Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe, on the other hand, needs to be recognized by a far larger audience. The Newcastle United Head Coach will no doubt claim that he is unconcerned with such matters, but they are significant.
When someone does an outstanding job, it should be recognized by both Newcastle fans and neutrals.
We all know that, with a few exceptions, the media has been a shambles when it comes to Newcastle United.
However, if any writer is still giving the NUFC leader anything less than full credit for a wonderful job after two years, they are absolutely making a fool of themselves.
Simon Jordan writing in The Mail about Newcastle United and Eddie Howe:
‘It’s not my natural instinct to wax lyrical about managers because they are frequently presidents of their own fan club, but you have to give Eddie Howe as much credit as you can for the job he’s doing at Newcastle.
I didn’t have high hopes for him, and to be honest, I didn’t think he had what it took to be Newcastle’s manager.
But he’s doing a fantastic job, and I don’t think anyone in English football is performing better than Howe at Newcastle right now.
Not just because he bought well and rejuvenated the club’s enthusiasm. Not merely because the style of play is appealing to you. Not just because they’ve overcome difficulty with a lack of players in the past. Not only because they don’t weep and criticize when poor decisions are made against them. Not only because they don’t continuously blame bad luck for terrible outcomes. All of these factors combine to make him a breath of fresh air.
And all of that indicates that this guy has personality. He’s no idiot, and he’s a man of substance. But I admit that I didn’t think the substance was as important as it is now.’
‘He is the ideal guy, in the ideal job, at the ideal time. However, you must still carry out successful outcomes. He has altered them overnight, from the darkness of the perceived sad Mike Ashley regime to this completely transformed club, and I don’t think he has made a mistake.
Of course, the financial clout of Newcastle’s owners can be used to belittle Howe’s achievements. But that’s not fair…Newcastle is simply spending what the majority of top-six clubs do.’
‘…there’s a euphoria at Newcastle. They are riding a tidal wave of energy and enthusiasm and possess a determination to achieve because, unlike the historical legacy clubs, they don’t yet have a deep-seated entitlement and belief that they should be doing what they are doing.’

His interviews after games are solid, sensible and based on constructive observations. There’s no hyperbole, no unnecessary superlatives and he’s not overly emotive. He doesn’t get carried away by winning, or despondent by losing.’
‘His players are all over it, on it, and over it. Anthony Gordon, who I thought was a little ahead of himself at first, is now developing into a guy who would fit in on most teams.
Joelinton and so many other players appear to be separate players. They’re improving and improving in every position, and, without being too gushing, there’s very anything that isn’t positive.
Everything you saw from Howe’s players on Saturday when they beat Manchester United was the exact opposite of what you received from their opponents.
When you look at this Newcastle team and their performances against PSG, their approach to the Champions League, their performances in the Premier League, the culture of the club, and the direction of travel, you can see that a significant portion of that is due to Howe’s steady, solid, and clearly inspirational leadership.
I now see a manager who is only going higher.’
