Newcastle United are expected to be active in the January transfer window, which opens in a few weeks.
After Newcastle’s huge summer signing Sandro Tonali was banned from football for 10 months, midfield is supposed to be the main concern, but there are other areas on the list.
Indeed, the signing of a new forward is being considered, and a number of famous names have been linked.
For example, Romelu Lukaku has lately been mentioned as a possible target, while Ivan Toney has also been mentioned.
Timo Werner, another well-known name, has also been cited in connection with Newcastle.
Some new information has emerged in connection with a transfer last year as well.

Indeed, in an interview with BILD, writer Christian Falk confessed Werner was unhappy at RB Leipzig.
Nonetheless, after struggling in the Premier League, a return to England may not be on his radar at this time.
“At the moment he’s not really happy, but not so unhappy that he wants to go back to the Premier League,” he said.
“He had to deal with problems in the Premier League, his time at Chelsea was difficult for him and another challenge like that, another experiment like that, he can’t do it.
“It’s not the right time for Timo Werner because he has to find security again. He is a sensitive player and a move to the Premier League certainly won’t help.
“Newcastle were already interested in him but that wasn’t pursued seriously and while his name was mentioned at Manchester United, neither player nor the club have made an offer. So, Werner will stay at Leipzig if nothing changes.”

Perhaps passing judgment on Werner based on his experience at Chelsea is too harsh. Forwards don’t always thrive there, although the German did win the Champions League.
Still, at 27 years old and with only 18 goals in 53 games since returning to Germany, he hasn’t rebuilt his career sufficiently to suggest he’s ready for another shot at the Premier League.
Eddie Howe has had success with a number of players, but it doesn’t imply he can help Werner.
