West Bromwich Albion may be without club captain Jed Wallace when they face Leicester City this weekend, as the attacker is listed as doubtful.
In Tuesday night’s 1-0 win over Cardiff City, the 29-year-old sustained a shoulder injury. He was able to continue after a challenge in the first few minutes of the game, but only lasted 15 minutes before signaling to the bench to be substituted.
Wallace is described as a “doubt” for the visit of Leicester City. Following the game against Cardiff, the player responded to a fan on social media, stating he was “not too sure” about the injury and “hoping it’s not too serious.”
This season, the forward has appeared in every Championship match for West Brom, scoring twice and assisting three times. Except for one league outing, he has always started.
West Brom’s future is in jeopardy not only on the field. Manager Carlos Corberan has been unable to speak to the media in the lead-up to the game owing to sickness, casting doubt on his ability to take the field on Saturday.
The news that long-term absentee Adam Reach has returned to training this week has given Albion a boost. He hasn’t played since preseason, so the game against City may be too soon for him.
City will be trying to rebound after a disappointing last-minute equalizer against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday night. West Brom, who have had an extra 24 hours to prepare for the game, are on a five-game winning streak and sit fifth in the Championship table, 11 points behind City.
