Nightmare for Man Utd ahead of trip to Tyneside – Just what we like to see…

As we all licked our wounds after Tuesday’s theft in Paris, it was intriguing to watch how Manchester United fared in their crucial Champions League group game against Galatasaray yesterday night.

It was already a plus for us that they’d have one less day to rest and prepare for Saturday night’s 8pm kick-off on Tyneside, but the game itself was brutal.

After leading 2-0 and 3-1, they gave away two-goal leads on both occasions, drawing a six-goal thriller 3-3 because to sloppy defending and costly blunders from Andre Onana.

The loss, along with Copenhagen’s 0-0 stalemate at Bayern Munich, means they are now extremely unlikely to advance from their group.

Only a win over Bayern Munich and a draw between Copenhagen and Galatasaray in the next two weeks will get them into the knockout stages.

Ten Hag’s game management has been scheduled, and there will be plenty of tired legs (and brains) in their camp today, with the horrible circumstances, hostile environment, and end-to-end nature of the game being exactly what we hoped to see after our 24-hour shift in Paris.

As if a journey to Turkey wasn’t terrible enough for the Red Devils, they’ll now face a wounded Newcastle team out for blood following a devastating draw that left both sides on their feet. Saturday night under the stars can’t arrive soon enough…
