Martin Hardy of The Times has provided an update on Sven Botman’s knee injury and Newcastle’s January transfer plans.
He says that the Dutchman is being ‘nursed back to fitness’ after an ongoing ailment, and that Howe ‘hopes to have him back shortly’ – though it all depends on the swelling surrounding his knee.
If he doesn’t have a reaction in training, he may be back soon, but if he does, he’ll need surgery, which could keep him out until February.
If that happens, Newcastle intends to add a center-back, a midfielder, and a flexible forward in the January transfer window, with Kalvin Phillips and Hugo Ekitike also cited as ‘strong targets’ by Hardy.
