The Bulls had yet another slow start.
The Chicago Bulls’ four-game road trip began with a 116-102 defeat at the hands of the resurgent Oklahoma City Thunder. Here are two takeaways from the Bulls’ 11th loss:
Bulls start slow for the fifth game in a row
The Bulls can’t seem to get out of their own way when it comes to game starts, as they sputtered out of the gate once again and found themselves trailing by 12 points after one quarter. Chicago missed their first six shots until Nikola Vucevic put the Bulls on the board at 9:51.
The Bulls shot 4-of-23 from the field in the first quarter. The squad has the lowest first-quarter scoring average in the NBA, averaging just 24.7 points. Despite Coby White’s hot shooting from three-point range in the second quarter, the Bulls were unable to break the 40-point barrier.
Chicago has now scored less than 40 points in the first half in four of the last five matches.

SGA is for real
If someone had thought Think again if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s All-Star season last season was a fluke. SGA’s game has improved dramatically this season. He leads the league in thefts while posting career highs in rebounds (6.2), field goal percentage (53.5%), and free-throw accuracy (92.8%). On top of that, he’s scoring 29.6 points per game.
SGA had a great night against the Bulls, scoring 40 points, dishing out 12 assists, and even blocking three shots. He hit 11 field goals and only missed one of his 18 free throw tries.
