Journalist predicts Molineux return for fantastic 28-year-old PL man

Journalist Neil Moxley tipped Aston Villa outcast Leander Dendoncker to seal a return to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the future.

Sunday People chief sports writer Neil Moxley predicted a return to Wolverhampton Wanderers for Aston Villa outcast Leander Dendoncker in a recent interview with Give Me Sport. Moxley stated,

“I could see Dendoncker returning to Wolves because he may have some unfinished business now.” I’m not sure if they’ve got coverage. But, once again, I believe he will have to grind his way into his preferred position. I like him as a center-back in a three-man defense, but he did spend time in midfield for Wolves. When Moutinho and Neves were at their peak, he was employed around them.

But, in the case of Dendoncker, it would be intriguing to see if Wolves could get him out for less than half the money they allowed him go to Villa.”

Dendoncker’s Lack Of Game Time At Aston Villa This Season

Dendoncker has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter for the West Midlands club this season. This season, the Belgian star has appeared in just eight matches for the Villans on all fronts.

The 28-year-old has made all of his Premier League matches as a substitute yet has completed 78.6% of his attempted passes (data via whoscored).

Should Wolves Boss Gary O’Neil Bring Dendoncker Back To The Molineux Stadium?

Dendoncker is a strong tackler who can get the ball back for his team inside his half. He frequently clears the danger and can shoot the ball fairly well from long distance.

The Belgian prodigy can even create a few good chances for his teammates up top. He’s also capable of making a couple driving runs with the ball from midfield. However, his growth at Aston Villa has been hampered by a lack of playing time.

Dendoncker, 28, is in desperate need of consistent game time if he is to resurrect his career. As a result, he would welcome a return to Wolves if Gary O’Neil decides to sign him next season.

Dendoncker is familiar with the Midlands club from his previous stint there and will quickly adapt to O’Neil’s style of play. As a result, Wolves should think about bringing him back to the Molineux Stadium in 2024.
