AC Milan to make four signings in January – the positions and names

AC Milan are already planning for what might be a busy January transfer window, with several acquisitions likely. According to Italian media this morning, four players could join Stefano Pioli’s squad.

Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are eager to put an end to the injury/depth focus by making very specific additions in January. Although the outcome of the Champions League Round of 16 will be crucial, the Rossoneri appear to have a solid budget in place.

According to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Milan are looking to strengthen four positions: centre-back, left-back, midfielder, and striker. The first and last are the most important, but the other two will not be overlooked.

Striker

Let us begin with the most pressing situation. Olivier Giroud has worked tirelessly, and a No.9 reinforcement is needed. As of now, there are three main targets: Jonathan David (Lille), Serhou Guirassy (Stuttgart), and Akor Adams (Montpellier). The question is who might arrive in January.

David, although struggling at the start of the season, would be the easiest to sign of the three. The Canadian international is valued at €40 million, but if a suitable offer comes in, Lille may decide to sell him in January.

Guirassy has a €17 million release clause, but he intends to go in the summer, and Adams looks to be thinking the same way. Having said all of this, last-minute opportunities could emerge in January and other targets thus cannot be excluded.

Centre-back

Milan is interested in Jakub Kiwior in defense. He was connected with the Rossoneri before joining Arsenal, and he’s now back on their radar. The plan is to get him a loan, but it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will agree to this. Benoit Badiashile of Chelsea is another loan option.

Moncada is also interested in Konstantinos Koulierakis (Paok) and Alessandro Marcandalli (Reggiana, which is controlled by Genoa). However, the journey to Milanello will be difficult for both of them, especially since Milan requires quick reinforcement.

Midfielder

Milan moved quickly in their chase of Assan Ouédraogo, which began two years ago, but the rivalry has intensified and is now quite fierce. Inter Milan, RB Leipzig, RB Leipzig, and Arsenal have all been suggested.

The Schalke midfielder has a €12 million release clause and, at the age of 17, several clubs are interested. The major surprise for Milan, however, could come on the way out. Fenerbahce is still interested in Rade Krunic, and the Rossoneri will accept a reasonable deal for the Bosnian.

Left-back

This is the least important position, yet there is a nice opportunity for Milan: Juan Miranda. His Real Betis contract will expire in the summer, and he might join for a little cost. We’re talking about €5 million, give or take.

Miranda, on the other hand, has requested a salary of €2 million every season, which must be considered. Milan have put their trust in Davide Baretisaghi and Alessandro Florenzxi thus far, while Theo Hernandez always plays when he’s fit.
