The Carolina Panthers are gearing up for a major defensive overhaul this offseason, with one name frequently mentioned in discussions—Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle. Known for his ability to stop the run and pressure the quarterback, he is coming off an impressive Super Bowl performance.
With $29.9 million in cap space, Carolina is expected to be aggressive in free agency and the NFL Draft, per ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
“Expect the Panthers to pursue high-profile free agents,” Graziano reported. “They could target top safeties like Jevon Holland and Camryn Bynum, while also making a strong push to lure Milton Williams away from the Super Bowl champion Eagles. Additionally, Carolina is likely to seek edge rush help, with Chase Young being a notable option.”
Williams is seeking a lucrative contract, and with the Eagles potentially eyeing a trade for Myles Garrett, they may be unwilling to meet his demands. The Panthers, still in the process of strengthening their defense, could be an ideal landing spot for him.

Head coach Dave Canales isn’t just focusing on the defensive line—the secondary also needs reinforcements. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the timing is perfect for Carolina to address this area.
“I’m hearing similar buzz about the Panthers,” Fowler said. “They’re also prioritizing an extension for star cornerback Jaycee Horn before the market for elite corners skyrockets, with deals for Derek Stingley Jr. and Sauce Gardner on the horizon.”
With general manager Dan Morgan at the helm, the Panthers are poised for a busy offseason as they shift their focus to defense after emphasizing offense in 2024.
