One of baseball’s premier hitters, his contract situation has been uncertain for years, and with free agency looming in 2026, his future in Toronto is far from guaranteed.
The Blue Jays opted not to extend him this offseason, and his recent comments suggest he’s open to exploring all options. “If I go to free agency, every team—all 30 teams—are going to have the opportunity to sit down with (me), to talk to me,” he told Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
Although he has previously expressed interest in staying with the Blue Jays, contract disputes and organizational decisions often push players toward new opportunities. If Guerrero grows dissatisfied in Toronto, he could be tempted to join a rival American League East team—such as the Red Sox—to make a statement.
