Tino Livramento has only been at Newcastle United for a short time, but he is already feeling the love.
The 21-year-old joined the Magpies in the summer for £32 million after Southampton was relegated from the Premier League.
It was not an easy transaction to complete, with negotiations dragging on over how much the defender was worth. But Newcastle eventually got their man, as Eddie Howe signed the player who will take over for Kieran Trippier when the time comes.
That’s the problem about Livramento: he went to Newcastle knowing he wouldn’t be first choice. He’d always be second fiddle to Trippier, but he’d have the opportunity to learn from him before finally taking his spot.
He had to look long term, and the right-back has since revealed that leaving Southampton and moving to the North East was a ‘difficult decision’. However, it is a decision he is pleased with.

Livramento is presently playing for England’s Under-21 team and spoke to the Daily Mail before of their match against Serbia. He was questioned about his summer relocation to Newcastle.
“The move was a tough decision, don’t get me wrong,” he told reporters.
“Anyone in my position, to have that opportunity, would do what I’ve done.”It’s a fresh experience, not only with a new club, but also with a new portion of England all the way up north. It’s been thrilling.
“When you go out for coffee, you see a lot of fans, but they’re always respectful, nice, and kind.” Everyone likes you up there, it seems like a family.”
Newcastle fans already love Livramento
It was a difficult choice, but one Livramento felt certain he wanted to make. He was excited to join the Toon project, and his decision is already being vindicated.
The defender is seeing much more action these days, and he never fails to amaze whenever Eddie Howe gives him the opportunity.
His first start against Manchester City was brilliant, as was his performance in the 3-0 triumph at Old Trafford. Livramento has so far been Newcastle’s Carabao Cup hero, but he is now seeing more action in the Premier League and Champions League.
This is due to Newcastle’s injury problems, but Livramento seems quite at home in the Toon starting XI.
He is an extremely talented player, and if Trippier decides to retire, the right-back position is in very secure hands.
Fans chant ‘Tino! Tino! Tino!’ every week to remind him of his wise decision to join Newcastle.
