DailyFaceoff recently unveiled a new trade bait board, featuring several intriguing names. With the Rangers aiming to bolster their roster for the postseason, a number of potential targets will emerge, and one player immediately caught my attention—a native of New York. His availability has been debated for years, but the Rangers have maintained a long-standing interest in him.
That player is Trevor Zegras. Frank Seravalli’s latest trade board lists Zegras at No. 30, noting both his current situation and past reports of dissatisfaction in Anaheim. With the Ducks possibly considering moving on from him, teams could look to acquire the former ninth overall pick from the 2019 NHL Draft and unlock his full potential.
Zegras is one of the NHL’s most electrifying players, frequently showcasing his skill with the lacrosse move. However, his production has dipped in Anaheim, and a change of scenery might be exactly what he needs. So far this season, he has recorded goals and nine assists for 16 points in 33 games, following a similar output of six goals and nine assists in 31 games last year. Prior to that, he posted back-to-back 60-point seasons.

With one more year remaining on his contract at $5.75 million, Zegras hasn’t had the smoothest tenure with the Ducks. He would fit within New York’s cap structure while offering versatility as both a center and left winger. The Rangers could leverage their future assets to put together a package that gives Zegras a fresh start before his value climbs again. This could be the perfect buy-low opportunity, and Chris Drury has the chance to make a savvy move.
