BREAKING: Eagles Land Four-Time All-Pro Defensive Stalwart in Blockbuster Trade

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially entered “Howie Season” as they begin the offseason fresh off their second Super Bowl title in franchise history.

Following their disappointing collapse in 2023, general manager Howie Roseman reshaped the roster into a championship-caliber team. Key acquisitions included running back Saquon Barkley, linebacker Zack Baun, right guard Mekhi Becton, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

The Eagles’ offseason moves proved to be a resounding success. Saquon Barkley delivered a historic season, earning Offensive Player of the Year honors. Zack Baun emerged as an All-Pro linebacker, while Mekhi Becton helped anchor one of the league’s top offensive lines. In the secondary, C.J. Gardner-Johnson provided leadership and intensity, while rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean both finished as Defensive Rookie of the Year finalists.

Philadelphia currently has just over $18 million in cap space, with the NFL salary cap expected to rise between $277 million and $281 million. General manager Howie Roseman faces key decisions regarding several important players, including Baun, Becton, defensive end Josh Sweat, and defensive tackle Milton Williams.

With momentum on their side, the Eagles now appear ready to make another major move.

Philadelphia Eagles one of favorites to acquire four-time All-Pro defensive player

According to The Athletic, the Eagles have the second-best odds (+450 on FanDuel) to land four-time All-Pro and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, trailing only the Washington Commanders (+300). Garrett has reportedly requested a trade, expressing interest in joining a Super Bowl contender.

“The Eagles have their cornerbacks of the future, Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell, on rookie contracts and a young defensive line with inexpensive contracts,” The Athletic’s Jess Bryant noted. “Much of Philly’s money is tied up on offense with Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley, and company. Eagles Vice President Howie Roseman is known for this type of deal, and Garrett would love to join a Super Bowl-ready team. Philadelphia would likely have to give up one or two first-rounders and let Josh Sweat walk in free agency, but it could happen.”

After trading Haason Reddick to the Jets, the Eagles’ signing of Bryce Huff has not worked out, as he was left inactive for the Super Bowl. Adding Garrett to a defensive front that already features Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, and Jalyx Hunt could turn their pass rush into a dominant force.

In eight seasons with Cleveland, Garrett has racked up 102.5 sacks, 116 tackles for loss, 200 quarterback hits, 20 forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries, making him one of the league’s premier defensive players.
