After the game, Billy Donovan informed the media, “In my conversation with medical, because we didn’t have shootaround this morning, they had some interaction with Alex (Caruso).” “There’s no doubt in my mind that you’re looking to account for the fact that we have five games in seven days—I believe six in nine—and that we’re playing back-to-back. “Okay, do you let this try to calm down a little bit or do these games potentially start setting him back?” you ask yourself as you sit there.
Although I never said, “Alex, can you play or not?” he did seem uncomfortable. We’ll always be cautious with him and work to make wise decisions, but I do believe you have to consider the current timetable in terms of trying to get him well. I do believe that when he was out there, he didn’t feel well and didn’t want to go.
When asked if Caruso was on a daily basis, Donovan said he didn’t think it would take weeks, but he wasn’t able to provide a firm response. Caruso didn’t play out of caution, and it sounds like his ailment is mild and the Bulls don’t want it to become worse. Chicago has a full schedule, and the players suffer from those games.
Monday night marks the Bulls’ return to play as they travel to face the Milwaukee Bucks.
