Latest: Chicago Bulls Now Urged To Trade Star Immediately

The Chicago Bulls are not progressing very quickly. The team recently ended a three-game losing streak and is now 3-5 as the season approaches its 10-game mark. But don’t allow the Bulls’ impressive victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday night (130–113) distract you from the fact that this is a poor team with players who obviously don’t mesh well together.

Even though it has been said a lot in a variety of ways, it is important to reiterate that the Bulls need to act quickly to salvage the season while they still have it.

Core doesn’t work

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report says there’s enough data to draw the conclusion that this core simply doesn’t perform at its peak when point guard Lonzo Ball is leading the way. The Bulls’ core isn’t as strong as it could be because Ball will miss his second consecutive season in order to recuperate from a cartilage transplant procedure.

“Chicago will eventually have to face the truth and acknowledge that this core just isn’t cohesive without Lonzo Ball.” The defense is off to a 23rd-ranked start, Patrick Williams has regressed, and not enough was done in the offseason to address the point guard position, according to Swartz.

“A hamster on a wheel might make a better representation of Chicago than the famous bull-head logo. Although things are happening in theory, no real progress is being made, according to Swartz.

Rebuild has to happen

Zach LaVine, the Bulls’ best player, must be traded as one of the front office’s first decisions if they decide to turn their focus to rebuilding this season. Although his high scoring averages don’t always translate into victories, LaVine has long been regarded as one of the best scorers. The Bulls could be able to start their rebuilding process with a package of draft picks and young players that he could bring in.

LaVine is an excellent scorer, but he has a history of being a bad defender who hasn’t had the kind of impact on victory that a multiple All-Star should have. With his star guard on the court, the Bulls are currently losing by 6.7 points per 100 possessions. LaVine, who is in his tenth season, has only finished with a positive swing rating twice in his career, according to Swartz. LaVine has been rumored to be a trade target of the Philadelphia 76ers.
