Leicester City ‘eyeing up’ prolific striker as January transfer stance outlined

Leicester City news as the January transfer window approaches for Enzo Maresca’s Foxes
Leicester City are reportedly interested in Villarreal forward Ben Brereton-Diaz ahead of the January transfer deadline.

The 24-year-old could be on the move again soon, just months after moving to Spain. The Foxes are reportedly keeping an eye on him.

However, City are not the only club rumored to be interested. TEAMtalk reports that a number of Premier League and Championship clubs are interested in the former Blackburn Rovers striker.

Crystal Palace and Burnley are reportedly keeping an eye on his situation. Southampton and West Bromwich Albion, City’s Championship rivals, have also been linked with a move.

Brereton-Diaz has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter for Villarreal since joining the club in the summer. The La Liga club is reportedly willing to let him go on loan in January to get some game time.

This season, the Chile international has made eight league appearances for Villarreal, six of which have come off the bench. He has yet to discover the back of the net.

He joined the club on a free transfer after his contract with Rovers expired.

The attacker scored 47 goals in 177 appearances for Ewood Park over a five-year period that included a loan spell from Nottingham Forest before his move became permanent.

City may have a busy January transfer window. Enzo Maresca’s team currently leads the Championship table and hopes to return to the top flight at the first time of asking.
