Alan Shearer was interviewed by CBS Sports prior to kickoff Wednesday night, and the former Newcastle United striker was well on his way to a successful evening.
Newcastle star Alan Shearer acknowledged to CBS Sports’ Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards that he was already five drinks in before Newcastle kicked off last night.
The Premier League’s all-time leading scorer was still confident enough to take to social media and give credit where credit was due.
Last night, Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes was exceptional.
Shearer was quick to respond after Bruno Guimaraes, who had another fantastic game for Newcastle last night, uploaded an image on Instagram.
“One night to remember forever!” said Bruno in his post. I am extremely pleased of the team! We have the world’s best fans! We continue. Unbelievable performance by everyone,” Alan Shearer answered with a slew of clapping emojis.
Guimaraes pledged to provide Champions League evenings to Newcastle when he signed, and given that Newcastle was rooted to the bottom of the Premier League at the time, it seemed like a pipe dream.
Do you remember Kylian Mbappe?
Bruno Guimaraes has helped Newcastle crush Paris Saint-Germain, the team that boasts the world’s finest player in Kylian Mbappe – who, believe it or not, was actually on the pitch last night, not that you’d ever know.
Bruno’s season started slowly, but since returning from international service last month, he appears to be back to his best, and with him, Newcastle.
He and the boys created a memory for a new generation of Newcastle supporters that they will remember for years to come, and we oldies can stop harping on about Barcelona. We probably won’t, but we could.
