Fabrizio Romano: Milan are in advanced talks to sign fantastic free agent midfielder in January

According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are in talks to sign talented midfielder Matija Popovi and are confident they will win the race to sign him.

Milan have demonstrated a willingness to bring in young talent from abroad, as evidenced by the additions of Jan-Carlo Simic, Alex Jimenez, Alexander Simmelhack, Dariusz Stalmach, and Mateusz Skoczylas, among others.

According to Romano’s Daily Briefing column on the CaughtOffside Substack, Milan are ‘advancing in talks’ to sign Partizan Belgrade’s 17-year-old Serbian talent Matija Popovi as a free agent in January.

There are several clubs interested, but according to the journalist, Milan is “leading the race” and “confident of getting a deal done soon.” Given his age, we can assume he will be a Primavera signing at first.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Ajax have all been linked with Popovi, who has a contract expiring at the end of the season and thus has the option to leave in January.
