Magic Johnson was among those ecstatic after LeBron James and the Lakers ended their three-year drought against the Clippers.
Some things are unquestionably worth the wait. Los Angeles Lakers fans did not anticipate losing 11 consecutive games to the Los Angeles Clippers from December 2020 to April 2023. But, in the end, victory is theirs once more.
The Lakers finally ended their losing streak against the Clippers on Wednesday night, 130-125 in overtime, thanks to a big night from LeBron James, who had 35 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.
This, of course, excited Lakers fans; after all, it’s been frustrating to see their in-city rivals appear on the schedule as an automatic loss for the past three seasons. But now that the Purple and Gold are back on track, there’s plenty of reason for fans to rejoice, with Magic Johnson among those ecstatic about the Lakers’ victory.
Johnson expressed his feelings about the Lakers’ win over the Clippers on his official Twitter (X) account in classic Magic fashion — by pointing out the obvious in a hilariously unironic manner.
“We finally beat the Clippers in overtime, 130-125!” What a thrilling LA match!” Johnson penned a letter.
The Lakers may have won largely due to LeBron James’ heroic efforts, but the Purple and Gold triumphed as a unit. The likes of Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell showed up, with the latter providing offense for the Lakers when they were trailing by double digits early in the game. Meanwhile, role players such as Austin Reaves, Christian Wood, and Cam Reddish performed admirably, with Reaves and Wood attracting the attention of Magic Johnson.
“They were absolutely dynamic on a night when the Lakers’ two superstars had to be special!” “LeBron James led the team with 35 points and 12 rebounds, while Anthony Davis chipped in with 27 points and 10 rebounds,” Johnson wrote. “They were aided by D’Angelo Russell’s 27 points and Austin Reaves’ 15 points. With a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double, Christian Wood made an important contribution off the bench.”
The Lakers will look to build on their historic win when they face the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.
