Dwight McNeil has sent his best wishes to Burnley after Everton knocked his former club out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
McNeil, 23, had arguably one of his best performances for the Blues at Goodison Park on November 1st, but the away fans booed him throughout the 90 minutes.
After the game, McNeil took to his personal Instagram account to thank Burnley fans.
He wrote on his story, “A club I hold dear in my heart, always wishing Burnley the best.”

What is it with some football fans booing their ex-players despite the fact that they did not leave on bad terms?
McNeil wasn’t great for the Clarets, and he was especially bad when they were relegated from the Premier League before Everton signed him.
Perhaps the fans are upset because he appeared to abandon ship when they dropped into the Championship.
In any case, we saw it at the West Ham game when their fans booed Declan Rice for the first time as an Arsenal player.
This is a young man who has just led them to a European championship. Only Bobby Moore and Billy Dodds have won trophies as West Ham captains in the club’s history, and Rice is being booed.
Football fans have a strange sense of entitlement these days.
McNeil made the right decision by leaving Burnley for Everton to play in the Premier League alongside his former manager Sean Dyche for a massive club.
Who could have said no in their right mind?
