While the transfer portal has been a hot topic in Tuscaloosa, there’s encouraging news for Alabama Football. Last week, former five-star recruit and running back Justice Haynes announced his entry into the transfer portal after two seasons with the Crimson Tide. However, Jam Miller, Alabama’s second-leading rusher in 2024, confirmed he plans to stay and compete for a leading role in 2025.
“Yeah, I’m staying,” Miller told reporters. “I’m staying another year. I’m staying.”
Miller’s return not only strengthens Alabama’s running back depth but also provides him an opportunity to enhance his NFL Draft stock. This season, the 5’10”, 218-pound back tallied 641 yards from scrimmage, averaging 4.7 yards per carry, with seven touchdowns. He also showcased his receiving ability, complementing dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe, who led the team in rushing.
As a high school prospect, Miller was a four-star recruit, ranked as the fourth-best running back in the nation and the 14th-best player in Texas. His decision to remain with Alabama positions him as a key player for the 2025 season and a potential workhorse in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan on New Year’s Eve.
