BREAKING: Yankees Reportedly Have ‘Zero Interest’ in $150 Million Slugger

After signing with the New York Mets, Juan Soto’s former team has a chance to exact revenge. The New York Yankees are looking for a new first baseman, and while Pete Alonso appears to be a solid match in the Bronx, one talk show host is hearing the opposite. “They’re not going to sign somebody for multiple, long-term years to play first base, that’s what I heard,”

Rich Eisen stated on his talk show Wednesday afternoon. He followed up a few minutes later with, “I’ve been told the Yankees have zero interest in Pete Alonso.” According to Kevin Hickey of Sporting News, this makes sense because the Yankees want to address some other positions.

“Given that the Yankees still need to find either a second or third baseman (Jazz Chisholm would fill the other role) and potentially another corner outfielder, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the front office went a bit cheaper,” writes Hickey. It’s difficult to imagine the Yankees going after another outfielder after trading for Bellinger, especially with Jasson Dominguez still in the mix.

While general manager Brian Cashman may not want to pay Alonso what he’s worth, it’s impossible to imagine “zero interest.” No interest in a four-time All-Star? Really? Who does Eisen’s source believe he is fooling? Alonso may not be the Bronx Bombers’ top priority at first base, but to claim he has no interest is absurd.
