Juan Soto has rejected widespread accusations that the New York Yankees mistreated his family, prompting him to leave the team.
Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, one of the most lucrative deals in sports history.
According to reports, one of Soto’s grievances with the Yankees was that a staff member once removed his chef and a family member from a section of Yankee Stadium.
Those allegations were addressed to Soto in a new interview with Grandes en los Deportes, and the new Mets player responded defiantly.
‘That’s a lie,’ Soto stated, before presumably referring to the Yankees as a ‘1A’ organization.
He also stated that he sought the Mets for permission to play 10 games for Tigres del Licey in winter ball, which was granted, but he will not play this season.
