Patrick Roberts’ father posts cheeky jibe at Norwich City after Sunderland win

Sunderland’s attacking midfielder was on loan at Carrow Road in 2020.

Following last weekend’s game, Patrick Roberts’ father made a cheeky social media jibe at Norwich City.

Sunderland won 3-1 against Norwich at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, with Roberts starting on the right side of Tony Mowbray’s attack.
The Black Cats fell behind in the 23rd minute when Hwang Ui-jo scored despite offside calls in the build-up.

Sunderland, on the other hand, responded well, taking the lead before halftime thanks to goals from Trai Hume and Dan Neil.

Jack Clarke then sealed the victory by being fouled by Kenny McLean in the Norwich box and converting the resulting penalty.

 

 

During the 2019-20 season, Roberts was loaned to Norwich City from Manchester City, but he only made four appearances in all competitions at Carrow Road.

Norwich were relegated to the Championship at the end of that season, finishing 20th in the Premier League, with several players, including Roberts, facing criticism from fans.

Neil Roberts, Roberts’ father, tweeted after the game, “Always nice to show a previous employer your (sic) not too bad at your job.”

This Saturday, the Black Cats will play Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in the Championship.

Mowbray has been boosted by the news that centre-back Dan Ballard will be available for the game, despite fears that he had received his fifth yellow card of the season against Norwich City.

However, it has now been confirmed that the caution was issued to Pierre Ekwah, not Ballard, as previously reported.
