The Bills Mafia must have held its collective breath for a moment when Josh Allen proceeded to the X-ray machine after Buffalo’s most recent 48-42 victory over Detroit. However, Allen has now stated that he was only being cautious following what the quarterback characterized as a “funky fall” on his right shoulder. He stated that he wanted “peace of mind more than anything else.”
And now, the 11-3 Buffalo Bills and their fans have it. “Josh is all right. He had a few of those tests following the game. “He’s all right,” stated coach Sean McDermott. A look at the Wednesday practice report provides formal proof that Allen is completely healthy… at least in relative terms.
The NFL’s leading MVP candidate is not even mentioned in the paper, as the Bills prepare to face the New England Patriots this weekend. Buffalo was able to pull off the upset at Detroit thanks in major part to Allen’s brilliance, who has recently separated himself from the rest of the league MVP competition. Following the win, Allen was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Allen has received the award three times this season, tying him with Lamar Jackson of the Ravens and ranking him second in the league behind Eagles running back Saquan Barkley.
Allen concluded Sunday’s game with 362 passing yards, 68 rushing yards, two passing touchdowns, and two rushing scores. “The mindset we had this week was win every play,” Allen pointed out. “Whatever the play was, figure out how to execute it at the highest level. We were just focused on the next one, and the boys made some great plays in there.” Allen made history on Sunday by becoming the first player in league history to have at least two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in consecutive games. And now he hopes to do the same against the 3-11 Patriots.
