A standout high school player at Tulsa Union, he was ranked as the No. 5 player in Oklahoma and the No. 27 cornerback nationally. GoPowercat first took notice of him during a September 2021 game when Tulsa Union faced Owasso. An Oklahoma commit at the time, was described as a 225-pound cornerback who “really jumped off the page.” Now listed at 6’2″ and 221 pounds, Rowe brings impressive size to Kansas State’s cornerback group under coach Van Malone.
The defensive back has becomes Kansas State’s latest addition of the transfer portal season. The former Oklahoma Sooner, who spent three seasons under Brent Venables, redshirted his first year and sustained a season-ending injury in the opening game of the 2023 season. With “2-3 years of eligibility” remaining, according to his social media, Rowe looks forward to joining the Wildcats. “Let’s get to work! #wildcats,” he posted.
Rowe’s versatility allows him to potentially contribute as a safety in certain situations. His physical profile and skillset have drawn comparisons to Julius Brents, and he’s expected to make an immediate impact. After a visit earlier in the week, rumors circulated about Rowe nearing a decision, which he confirmed Thursday night by committing to the Wildcats.
Despite limited college game experience, Rowe’s addition marks a strong start to what promises to be an active transfer portal season for Kansas State. With over a dozen players already in the portal and more roster changes anticipated, the Wildcats are poised for significant turnover. Stay tuned to GoPowercat for updates on Rowe and the rest of Kansas State’s transfer portal class.
