The Detroit Lions are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the best record in the NFL heading into Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills at 4:25 p.m. ET at Ford Field. Josh Allen, James Cook, and the Buffalo Bills are the only teams to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs this season, adding to the tension and intrigue that has enveloped the Motor City’s downtown area this week. On Monday, the Detroit Lions made a social media announcement that was positively received by fans ahead of one of the biggest football games of the 2024 calendar year.
The Lions are prepared to return their alternate “Motor City Muscle” black uniforms with a black motif to Ford Field in expectation of a serious atmosphere for Sunday’s matchup between two Super Bowl hopefuls in downtown Detroit.
If the Lions wear the black alternates as planned, it will be the second time this season, with the first occurring against Geno Smith, Kenneth Walker III, and the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football on September 30, 2024, resulting in a Detroit Lions win.
“For the Bills funeral, let’s go,” one fan said in response to the announcement. “13-1 confirmed,” another admirer commented. “Admin, you’re cooking,” another added, using three “flame” emojis. The Lions haven’t beaten the Bills since October 2006, when Jon Kitna and JP Losman alternated at quarterback for both teams. Detroit has lost four consecutive games in the series, most recently in 2022, when Josh Allen’s Bills defeated Jared Goff’s Lions 28-25 in Motown.
