The Hokies and head coach Brent Pry are losing offensive depth players through the transfer portal.
Three Virginia Tech football defensive lineman revealed earlier this week that they would be entering the transfer portal, which will be open beginning Monday and running until December 28. When it opens, expect more Hokies to sign up, but two offensive players announced on Saturday that they will use it.
Lance Williams, a redshirt offensive lineman, declared on his X account that he will enter the portal to find a new home for the 2025 season. Williams, a three-star lineman in the Class of 2023, did not play in 2023 and only appeared three times this season, including a win against Boston College in Blacksburg in November.
On Saturday, walk-on quarterback Jackson Sigler stated on his X account that he will enter the portal. He attended Mountain View High School and is from Stafford, Virginia.
Both players entering the portal are now depth players for the Hokies, and as for Sigler, the Hokies have depth at quarterback with AJ Brand and Kelden Ryan coming in as freshmen next season. It remains to be seen what happens next with Kyron Drones and Pop Watson, as well as true freshman Davi Belfort.
Virginia Tech and head coach Brent Pry now have five players in the portal, including defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry, Malachi Madison, and Ishmael Findlayter, who announced their participation earlier this week. Perry just completed one season in Blacksburg after moving from Alabama, but when questioned about Perry in November, coach J.C. Price refused to discuss him, so his entry into the portal is unsurprising.
