On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills will try to win their eighth consecutive game when they travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams. The Bills are in a solid position in the AFC, owing mostly to the performance of quarterback Josh Allen, who is a leading contender for league MVP. His season continued in Week 13, when he became the first player in league history to score passing, running, and receiving touchdowns in the same game. On Wednesday, Allen was selected the AFC Offensive Player of the Week in recognition of his outstanding performance. It is the second time this season and the 14th time in his career he has received the accolade.
Allen’s performance on Sunday was also significant in terms of Bills history, as he eclipsed Hall of Famer Jim Kelly to become Buffalo’s all-time leader in career total touchdowns (248).
After the game, coach Sean McDermott complimented Allen on his historic feat.
“What an accomplishment,” head coach Sean McDermott stated. “It couldn’t happen to a greater person. I’m so thrilled for him and what he’s doing off the field, as well as how he’s continuing to improve, and this is a new chapter in his life. So happy, impressed, and enjoyed watching him grow over the years.” While Offensive Player of the Week accolades and even a potential MVP are excellent additions to Allen’s resume, he’s likely more concerned about delivering a Super Bowl to Buffalo for the first time in history.
