Newcastle United face a crucial Champions League match, while Manchester United stand in their way of Carabao Cup progress.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has hinted that Sven Botman might be back in contention next week for a difficult week of games against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup, Arsenal in the Premier League, and Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

On the eve of the trip to Wolves, Howe provided a positive update on Botman, saying, “Sven is improving and is out on the grass.” He is not currently training with us, but we are hopeful that he will return soon. We must exercise caution due to his injury.”

Last season, Newcastle earned a draw against Wolves on a day when Allan Saint-Maximin scored a goal of the month contender in stoppage time to silence the home side.

“At the time, it was early season, and it was not lost on me how important that point was,” Howe said. It was incredible how crucial that point was.

“It was an incredible strike from Maxi in a game where we did OK but missed a few chances.” We were virtually 2-0 down, but a VAR incident kept us in the game.

“But that goal was pure magic, and sometimes you need that in a tough game.” When you go to Wolves, you quickly realize it is a challenging game. So we realize this will be a difficult challenge for us.”
