The Green Bay Packers recently added former Washington Commanders linebacker to their practice squad. Despite some initial interest, Davis never got the opportunity to play for the Packers.
As Week 13 of the NFL approaches, he has moved on to a new team. According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the Minnesota Vikings have claimed Davis from Green Bay’s practice squad.
Green Bay Packers Lose Intriguing Linebacker To Minnesota Vikings
When the Green Bay Packers brought Jamin Davis into their practice squad, there was some interest in his athleticism and potential as a pass-rusher. However, it was clear the Packers didn’t view him as someone who could make an immediate impact.
The Vikings, known for frequently acquiring former Packers players through free agency or practice squad moves, have continued that trend by claiming Davis.
At 25 years old, Davis was the 19th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. While he has displayed moments of high-level potential, consistency has remained a challenge throughout his career.
So far in his NFL career, Jamin Davis has appeared in 50 games, recording 282 total tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and six passes defended.
These stats highlight Davis’s potential to become a reliable NFL linebacker. It will be intriguing to see if the Minnesota Vikings can unlock that talent and help him reach his full potential. Naturally, Green Bay Packers fans will be rooting against the Vikings successfully developing Jamin Davis.
That said, this isn’t a significant move, but it does close the door on Davis potentially contributing to the Packers later this season. Green Bay can only hope this decision doesn’t come back to haunt them as the year progresses.
