JUST IN: Bills Coach Joe Brady Outlines ‘Scary’ Bye Week Plan

The Buffalo Bills enter their bye week after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs for the first time this season and are 9-2, with their sights set on the AFC East title. Under Joe Brady, the Bills are the third highest-scoring team in football, averaging 29.1 points per game, and with Brady’s “everybody eats” philosophy driving the offense’s positive feelings, Buffalo has become a juggernaut in the last month.

The offense has scored 30 or more points in five consecutive games, and heading into the bye week, one could easily conclude that the Bills are satisfied with their performance through 11 games. However, Brady has stated that the focus of this week is on improvement.

“It’s an opportunity to take a step back and look back at what you’ve done, tendencies, things that you’ve gotten away from, or good schemes or stuff that you got to get back to,” Brady told the crowd. “Really staying on top of that, and we do a wonderful job of it, but you have an opportunity during an open week to take a deep breath, look at it, and put together a strategy for where we want to go next. But regardless of the win [vs. Chiefs], it was going to be the same mentality, and we have to find ways to continue to improve; hopefully, we can do so this week.”

The Bills’ improvement is a concerning prospect for the NFL, and we will learn a lot more about Brady’s offense after the bye when they face a daunting three-game stretch that includes a home game against the San Francisco 49ers followed by back-to-back away games against the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions.

If Buffalo hasn’t already done so, it has a terrific chance to establish its Super Bowl credentials. The Bills are in Super Bowl contention thanks to a high-flying offense and a defense that ranks ninth (19.5 points per game). With the bye week, the Bills can come out and attack the next six games with ferocity in an attempt to catch the Chiefs for the AFC’s top seed.
