The Las Vegas Raiders have clear areas for improvement on their roster, but none is more critical than the quarterback position. Success in the NFL hinges on strong quarterback play, and the 2025 NFL Draft offers the Raiders an opportunity to address this, with several talented prospects available, including Colorado’s top star QB.
The son of legendary football player and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, has built his own reputation with stellar performances during his college career, first at Jackson State and now with the Buffaloes.
Considered one of the top prospects in the 2025 draft, Sanders has drawn attention from analysts. During an appearance on ESPN’s *Unsportsmanlike Radio*, Mel Kiper Jr. suggested that the Raiders would be an ideal landing spot for him.
According to Kiper, Sanders already has a connection with Raiders part-owner Tom Brady, which could be a strong advantage. Additionally, his father, Deion Sanders, has previously expressed enthusiasm about Shedeur potentially joining the Raiders. While the team clearly has a need at quarterback, they would also need to build the right infrastructure to ensure his success.
Sanders is having an outstanding season at Colorado, completing 73.3% of his passes for 2,591 yards and 21 touchdowns, while leading the Buffaloes to a 6-2 record—already an improvement over last year’s win total. The prospect of Sanders teaming up with tight end Brock Bowers in the Raiders’ offense is certainly an exciting thought for fans.
Of course, many variables remain, as the draft order is still unsettled, and other top quarterback prospects, such as Miami’s Cam Ward and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, are also in the mix. Regardless, the Raiders must secure their franchise quarterback, and Shedeur Sanders has the potential to be that cornerstone player.
Raiders hire Norv Turner as assistant coach following staff firings
The Raiders are actively working to address their struggling offense this season, highlighted by the dismissal of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, quarterback coach Rich Scangarello, and offensive line coach James Cregg.
Amid these changes, the team is bringing in a notable addition: veteran coach Norv Turner, who is coming out of retirement to join the staff as an assistant. Turner’s son, Scott, is already part of the Raiders’ coaching staff and is a potential candidate to take over play-calling duties—a factor likely influencing Norv Turner’s decision to step in and assist.
