Breaking: Kings Confirm Huge Trade Involving Another Top Star

The Sacramento Kings have traded top  forward, along with their 2031 second-round pick and cash considerations, to the San Antonio Spurs. This transaction is part of their plan to increase roster flexibility for future moves. According to ESPN, the Spurs intend to waive McDaniels after the trade, allowing the Kings more freedom to adjust their lineup.

In exchange, the Kings will acquire a top-55 protected second-round pick for 2025 from the Spurs, which originally belonged to the Chicago Bulls. This pick strengthens Sacramento’s assets and enhances their potential for further transactions in the coming seasons. The deal aligns with the Kings’ ongoing efforts to optimize their roster for future opportunities.

Jalen McDaniels joined the Sacramento Kings after being acquired from the Toronto Raptors in June. In that trade, the Kings sent Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, and a 2025 second-round pick from the Portland Trail Blazers to Toronto, underscoring their goal to reshape their roster. McDaniels is currently in the second year of a two-year, $9.2 million contract and has had a steady but modest NBA career.

At 26, McDaniels has averaged 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds over five seasons. Last season with the Raptors, he appeared in 50 games, averaging 10.1 minutes and 3.4 points per game. This latest trade reflects the Kings’ willingness to reconfigure their roster and explore new avenues for improvement.
