Fed Up: Fans Call for Coach’s Ouster After Triple Blowout Streak

Brian Kelly has truly outdone himself this time. In his third season as head coach of the LSU Tigers, he managed to reach new lows in the college football landscape. Heading into their Week 12 matchup at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the Tigers were reeling from back-to-back losses.

On October 26, LSU crumbled in the second half at Kyle Field, falling to then-No. 14 Texas A&M by a score of 38-23. They followed up that defeat with a dismal 42-12 loss at home to then-No. 11 Alabama.

Despite these setbacks, LSU still entered Saturday’s game with a shot at making the SEC Championship. A victory there would have secured the Tigers an automatic spot in the College Football Playoff.

Brian Kelly lost to a coach on the hot seat

Instead, the Tigers were outperformed by a Florida Gators team whose fanbase had been calling for head coach Billy Napier’s dismissal following a 4-5 start to the 2024 season. LSU’s offense struggled to find its rhythm throughout the game, and Florida took advantage of a fourth-quarter fumble by the Tigers, scoring a touchdown to extend their lead to 20-13. The Gators held on from there, ultimately defeating LSU 27-16 to secure their fifth win of the season.

LSU outgained Florida in total yards (382-339), but their failure to sustain drives ultimately derailed any hopes of salvaging their season. With the loss, the Tigers are now guaranteed to fall short of the 10-win mark achieved in Brian Kelly’s first two seasons.

College football fans think LSU should move on

College football fans on social media were quick to call for Brian Kelly’s dismissal, despite the staggering $60 million buyout it would cost LSU.

One fan joked, “Reports of For Sale signs already on Brian Kelly’s lawn.”
Another added, “Brian Kelly has to be done at LSU.”
A third declared, “#1 Brian Kelly MUST go or we will continue to deteriorate.”

The frustration among Tigers supporters is palpable as the program struggles to meet expectations in Kelly’s third season.

One frustrated fan pleaded, “For the love of all things holy, can LSU football please fire Brian Kelly?”

Another wrote, “Ok LSU, WE HAVE SEEN ENOUGH. FIRE BRIAN KELLY before he leaves the locker room.”

The calls for Kelly’s removal grew louder as fans vented their dissatisfaction with the direction of the program.
