BREAKING NEWS: Cardinals Lose Another Top Experienced Player to Season-Ending Injury

The Arizona Cardinals announced the following roster changes today:

– Chad Ryland, a kicker, has been added to the active roster. – Bilal Nichols, a defensive lineman, and Matt Prater, a kicker, have been placed on injured reserve. – Tight end Jordan Murray and offensive lineman Austen Pleasants were released from the practice squad.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Nichols is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Nichols has joined fellow front-seven defenders BJ Ojulari and Justin Jones on injured reserve for the remainder of the season, while first-round draft pick Darius Robinson is still awaiting his debut.

Nichols suffered a stinger during the Week 6 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

After signing a three-year, $21 million contract as a free agent in the offseason, Nichols was expected to strengthen a Cardinals defensive line in need of a complete overhaul. However, Arizona’s performance in the trenches has struggled during their 2-4 start.

Cardinals' Bilal Nichols: 'We are starting to hit our mark'

Before being placed on injured reserve, Nichols recorded ten tackles for the season.

With the season’s prospects at a critical juncture, Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon emphasized the need for a rebound as they prepare to host the Los Angeles Chargers at State Farm Stadium for Monday Night Football in Week 7.

“I think it’s clear why we lost. We did some good things, but there were also things that will keep us from winning if they persist,” said Gannon. “If you want to win, these issues need to be addressed. The players recognize this and know they must improve moving forward.”
