Just In: LSU Football Receive Ground-breaking News Regarding Three Players

Three LSU players—quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, linebacker Whit Weeks, and defensive end Bradyn Swinson—have been named SEC Players of the Week following their standout performances in LSU’s 29-26 overtime victory against No. 8 Ole Miss at Tiger Stadium.

Nussmeier earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Weeks was recognized as the league’s Defensive Player of the Week, and Swinson took home Defensive Lineman of the Week. This marks Nussmeier’s second time receiving the award this season and Swinson’s third recognition in 2024.

Junior quarterback Nussmeier led a late-game comeback, completing 22-of-51 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns. His performance included a game-tying 23-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Anderson on fourth-and-5 during a 13-play, 75-yard drive, followed by a 25-yard touchdown pass to Kyren Lacy on LSU’s first play in overtime. Nussmeier, who tops the SEC with 18 touchdown passes this season, also made key plays on the ground, rushing for two first downs and converting a critical fourth-and-6 to keep LSU’s hopes alive.
