With a dismal 2-7 record and a string of staffing changes on offense, the Las Vegas Raiders find themselves with little left to play for nine games into the NFL season. Aside from pride, the team’s best outcome may be positioning themselves for a high draft pick next year. While fans and the front office may be eyeing better draft prospects, star pass rusher Maxx Crosby seems determined to take a different approach.
During a recent appearance on the “Let’s Go” podcast, Crosby expressed his desire to upset the playoff hopes of other teams for the remainder of the season. “The reality is we are what our record is, and it’s 2-7, which is not good,” he acknowledged. “So I look at it as being the Joker. If we’re not going to be the king of the castle right now, might as well go and ruin everyone’s season. And I love that. I love being the villain.”
With several games left, the Raiders have opportunities to shake things up, including matchups against divisional rivals like the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers, as well as potential playoff hopefuls like the injury-plagued Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Whether winning these games benefits the Raiders’ long-term future remains debatable. This week, Crosby and the Raiders will face the 2-6 Miami Dolphins, who hope to turn their season around with Tua Tagovailoa back at quarterback.
