Tony Mowbray confirms Sunderland star has returned to full training and will play against Norwich

Sunderland striker Bradley Dack is expected to return against Norwich on Saturday.

Dack was ruled out of Sunderland’s midweek match against Leicester City due to a hamstring injury. Both he and fellow midfielder Adil Aouchiche came off the bench against Stoke City last weekend but were unavailable for the defeat at the King Power Stadium, with Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray revealing afterwards that they were out due to injury.

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray revealed at his pre-match press conference on Thursday that Dack has returned to full training.

“They’re not bad injuries at all,” Mowbray added.

“Bradley is fine; he just needed to catch up after missing six weeks or however long he was out with a hamstring injury.” He trained fully with us today; all we need is for him to train for a week, work hard, and come up to speed so he can play.

“Adil, the medical report says one to two weeks, so that won’t be a problem for long.” I believe we’ll have the same squad to choose from on Saturday as we did on Tuesday night.”

Aji Alese, Corry Evans, Timothée Pembélé, and Jay Matete are still out as they recuperate from injuries.

“I hope I don’t sit here every week moaning about the injuries,” Mowbray said, “but we’ve got some pretty good players out who are on their way back, so it will help us.”

“Dennis played 30 minutes against Leicester, and he helped the balance of the team with a natural left foot playing on the left side of the pitch.”
