Breaking: Kansas State Receive Ground-breaking News Regarding QB Avery Johnson

Kansas State sophomore quarterback Avery Johnson has been named to the 2024 Davey O’Brien QB Class, joining 35 quarterbacks across the nation selected by the award’s committee. Johnson is one of six quarterbacks from the Big 12 to make the list and is now eligible to be chosen as a semifinalist for the prestigious Davey O’Brien Award. Semifinalist selections will be determined through votes by the National Selection Committee and additional ballots awarded through the first round of the Davey O’Brien Fan Vote.

For the fifth consecutive year, fans can participate in the Fan Vote on the award’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X) pages. The five quarterbacks with the most likes on each platform will receive bonus ballots to boost their chances. To vote, fans must like the original post featuring their chosen quarterback on the Davey O’Brien Award’s social media accounts (@daveyobrien). Voting for this round closes on Friday, November 8, at 11:59 p.m. ET, with semifinalists announced on November 12, finalists on November 26, and the winner revealed live on December 12 during The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.

Johnson, from Wichita, Kansas, has been a crucial part of the Wildcats’ 7-1 season, helping them secure a 4-1 record in the Big 12 with four straight wins. He has completed 130 of 212 passes (61.3%) for 1,654 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also rushing for 373 yards and four scores. Johnson is one of only five quarterbacks in the nation—and the only one in the Big 12—to achieve both 1,600 passing yards and 370 rushing yards this season.

Nationally, Johnson ranks 19th in total points responsible for (120) and 20th in passing touchdowns. He also ranks second and third in school history for sophomore passing touchdowns and yards, respectively, and is just two touchdown passes away from entering Kansas State’s single-season top-10 list.
