Nebraska Receive Ground-breaking News Involving Brian Buschini

Two Nebraska athletes earned weekly honors in football and volleyball. Senior punter Brian Buschini was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after helping Nebraska defeat previously unbeaten Rutgers.

Hailing from Helena, Mont., Buschini averaged 50.2 yards per punt on five punts during the Huskers’ 14-7 victory over Rutgers, including two 60-yard punts. He also placed two punts inside the 20-yard line, with a season-best 69-yard punt pinning Rutgers at their own 11-yard line with 2:17 left. It was his longest punt since 2022. Buschini also completed his first career pass, a 30-yard throw to Jaylen Lloyd on a fake punt in the third quarter.

This is Buschini’s first Big Ten Weekly honor, and Nebraska’s second of the season after Dylan Raiola was named Freshman of the Week following NU’s season-opening win against UTEP. Buschini is averaging 47.6 yards per punt this season, with eight of his 18 punts landing inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

The Huskers, now 5-1, will face 6-0 Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 19, with an 11 a.m. (CT) kickoff, broadcast on FOX.
