The Buffalo Bills drafted receiver Keon Coleman in the hopes that the Florida State product would become Josh Allen’s primary weapon. While he isn’t there yet, Coleman is making progress, which Allen and the offense have recognized, particularly in the last two games. Coleman has recently begun to mature as he adjusts to the demands of NFL football, and he is growing into a reliable target for Allen. As a result, he leads the Bills in touchdowns (3) and ranks second on the club in yards (396), indicating that the youngster is hitting his stride. “I think he’s adjusting well,” Allen remarked.
“He’s doing what we want of him: being a big guy, making contested receptions at the high point, going out there in the run game and using his strength and physicality. We witnessed that in the last game. We’ll need more of that from him in the future. Every day, my faith in him grows stronger. We get extra reps after practice, and you can see it beginning to pay off in the game.”
Coleman has surpassed 25 receiving yards in all but one game this season, and while that may not seem like he’s doing his fair share, he’s participating every week, and his ability to block in the run game has shown to be one of his strengths.
However, in the previous two games, Keon has performed like the receiver Buffalo expected him to be when drafting him. Coleman’s receiving totals of 125 and 70, along with a score, indicate that he is settling in at the NFL level. Of course, it’s only the first year, but Coleman is already proving to be the receiver the Bills expected.
