SHOCK!!!: Alabama Top Star Confirms Ground Breaking News

Top Alabama star issued a statement announcing his decision to redshirt for the remainder of the season and enter the transfer portal in December. “To the University of Alabama, my teammates, coaches, fans, and everyone who has been part of my journey on campus,” He wrote. “It is with a heavy heart that I have made the decision to take a redshirt and enter the transfer portal in December.

“This choice wasn’t easy, but I need to prioritize my future and career. While this season hasn’t gone as we had hoped, my love for this school and its amazing fan base is still strong. I am truly grateful for the memories and experiences I’ve had here, which will stay with me for life.

“As I look ahead to the next chapter, I’m excited to find a new home where I can showcase my NFL-caliber talent and help my future team compete for championships.

“From now on, all communication will go through my representatives at Young Money APAA Sports, Adie Von Gontard and Noah Reisenfeld. I ask that you respect my decision, and I appreciate all the support. God bless.”

He has experienced a reduced role under the new Alabama coaching staff, having been one of the top four snap recipients on the defensive line in the previous two seasons. This year, however, he has been overshadowed by several defensive linemen. He did not play against Vanderbilt, which allows him to maintain his redshirt status after appearing in only four games this season.

The junior defensive lineman from Columbia, Mississippi, recorded 29 tackles and one sack as a freshman in 2022 and followed that with 26 tackles and half a sack in his sophomore year. This season, he has made just two tackles.

“It felt like it was going that way,” said Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer regarding Oatis’ decision to redshirt and transfer. “You also have to understand there are other factors involved—health and life elements. I care about these guys; they work hard. Jehiem’s choices come with reasons. He has communicated with us, and it felt like this direction was developing over time.”

Prior to the Vanderbilt game, Oatis ranked seventh among Crimson Tide defensive linemen in snaps, with LT Overton, Jah-Marien Latham, Tim Smith, Tim Keenan III, James Smith, and Damon Payne Jr. all ahead of him in playing time.

“We’ll move forward with the players who can help us win and are focused on our program,” DeBoer said. “While I don’t want to make it final, you always want what’s best for everyone, and Jehiem is one of those players.”
