Tom Brady owned the Buffalo Bills throughout his playing career, but in his first game as a pundit, he made his feelings clear about the squad and particularly quarterback Josh Allen.
On October 27, the now-retired Brady appeared as the in-booth commentator for Fox’s broadcast of Buffalo’s 31-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, where he expressed his gratitude to the organization and its fans. He was extremely effusive in his appreciation for Allen, including a colorful description that went viral.
After Allen powered through the Seattle defensive line on a quarterback sneak to convert a 4th-and-1 play, Brady expressed gratitude for Allen’s lower-body strength with a colorful metaphor.
“That’s a big boy with the big powerful legs and a big powerful caboose,” Brady was saying.
Brady went on to remark that he wished he had Allen’s physique to aid with short-yardage runs.
“I wish I had one (like Allen),” Brady said. “I did not have much of one. “I attempted to wormhole that thing through there (on quarterback sneaks), but Josh has all the power.”
The message instantly went viral, with many followers sharing it on social media.
Allen and Brady have faced four times in the NFL, with Brady’s teams winning all four. The two have since formed a good friendship off the course and will compete against each other in a televised golf tournament in 2022.
Josh Allen Thankful for Bills Faithful
The Bills crushed the Seahawks in Sunday’s triumph, quieting the loud Seattle crowd and improving to 6-2. After the game, Brady interviewed Allen and inquired about his thoughts on the triumph. The Bills quarterback expressed his appreciation for the massive crowd of Bills fans who became increasingly vocal.
“It felt great,” Allen told Brady. “I’ll tell you what feels great right now: Bills Mafia.” We are inside the structure. This is a pleasant activity for them. It was a well-deserved team victory, and we are very proud of our players. I ended up throwing one [interception], which is how it sometimes goes, but I will say this: I made a tackle, allowing our defense to go out there, and they came up big for us. So I’m glad for our men.”
Allen also expressed affection for one of his new teammates, wide receiver Amari Cooper. Though the veteran had only one reception for three yards in his second game with the team after being acquired in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, Cooper has been able to draw attention from defenders and generate opportunities for his teammates.
“He attracts a lot of attention,” Allen remarked. “You know, when he [has single coverage] backside, it appears like he constantly has [a safety helping] over the top on him, which opens up more opportunities for our guys on the other side. So he is a true professional. I feel extremely privileged to be able to play with someone like him. And as the weeks pass, we’ll continue to align, and he’ll get more involved. And I am quite excited about that.”
