News Flash: Seahawks Confirms Major Blockbuster Deal For Another Top Experienced Star

The Seattle Seahawks made a notable move by trading for inside linebacker from the Tennessee Titans. In exchange, the Seahawks sent linebacker and a 2025 fourth-round draft pick to Tennessee. This deal fills a crucial gap for Seattle, aiming to bolster their defense. As with all NFL trades, the transaction is pending both players passing physicals.

Jones, 24, has already been traded twice in 2024, first moving from the Los Angeles Rams to the Titans in August. In his first three NFL seasons, he helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI as a rookie and has since made an impact with the Titans, tallying 44 tackles this season. With the Titans sitting at 1-5, the trade aligns with their rebuilding efforts. Jones is expected to step into a starting role with the Seahawks, strengthening their defense ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald has confirmed that Ernest Jones will play inside linebacker, while Tyrel Dodson, who previously occupied that position, will shift to the weakside linebacker role left open by Jerome Baker’s departure. This change not only underscores Jones’s expected impact but also maintains continuity in Seattle’s defensive communication, as Dodson is likely to continue as the defensive signal-caller. Jones’s familiarity with Macdonald’s defensive schemes from his time with the Titans is expected to aid his quick integration into the Seahawks’ system.

Additionally, the Seahawks have claimed linebacker Josh Ross off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens, further enhancing their linebacker depth. Ross, an undrafted player from 2022, is experienced in Macdonald’s defensive scheme, which should ease his transition to the team. To accommodate these roster changes, the Seahawks placed right tackle Stone Forsythe on injured reserve due to a hand injury, meaning he will miss at least four games.

In light of these adjustments, the Seahawks are also monitoring the health of several players, including cornerback Riq Woolen, who has returned to practice after suffering an ankle sprain, and wide receiver DK Metcalf, who is recovering from a Grade 1 MCL sprain. Running back Kenneth Walker III and cornerback Tre Brown missed practice due to illness and an ankle injury, respectively. The team remains optimistic about the return of right tackles Abe Lucas and George Fant, both of whom are on the mend, although Lucas will require additional time before he can return to action.
