One of the brightest spots in Auburn’s football program is its 2025 recruiting class, especially with the recent commitment of quarterback. The Mississippi native initially committed to Notre Dame in September 2023 but flipped his commitment to Auburn on October 2 after spending time visiting the campus over the past year.
Following updates to recruiting rankings, he has been elevated to a 5-star prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, which combines evaluations from all four major recruiting platforms. He is now ranked as the #32 overall prospect and the #6 quarterback in the 2025 class.
Freshman Malik Blocton shares the mindset of the younger players
Auburn football is facing a tough stretch, currently on a four-game losing streak without a conference win this season. The struggles are particularly disheartening, as there were hopes for improvement in head coach Hugh Freeze’s second year. However, the team’s younger players remain committed to the program’s rebuild.
True freshman defensive lineman Malik Blocton acknowledged the challenge, emphasizing that the team knew what they were stepping into but is determined to endure. “None of us are soft-hearted,” Blocton said. “We knew what we were coming into… We’re just going to have to stick through the storm. But the storm isn’t going to last that long.”
Despite the current difficulties, the young players are optimistic about Auburn’s future.
