Breaking News: Patriots Sign Replacement for Star who Suffered Terrible Injury

The New England Patriots have reunited with a familiar player after placing center David Andrews on injured reserve. Despite a strong start to the 2024 season, the Patriots have been performing as many expected, especially after three consecutive tough losses.

The situation worsened Wednesday when it was revealed that Andrews, one of the team’s longest-serving players and a key leader on offense, required shoulder surgery and was placed on injured reserve. His absence leaves an already thin offensive line struggling to replace its most reliable veteran.

In response to the injury, the Patriots moved quickly to add reinforcements. According to Patriots insider Mark Daniels, the team signed Jerome Carvin to the practice squad.

Patriots Sign OL Jerome Carvin to Practice Squad

Carvin played five years at the University of Tennessee, starting 43 games. Throughout his career, he has started at left guard, right guard, and center, demonstrating his versatility. Given the Patriots’ severe need for help at every offensive line position, having that skill set and experience is invaluable.

After being undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Carvin spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears. He was waived before the roster cutdown day. He was initially signed to the Patriots’ practice squad in August, but was released two weeks later. It’s understandable that the Patriots went to a familiar face when they needed aid the most.

No one can replace what Andrews brings to this squad. His presence on and off the field was extremely significant. But perhaps the loss might be mitigated if young guys like Carvin, who are waiting for their shot in the NFL, step forward.
