Major Injury Update: Dodgers All-Star Pitcher Won’t Return Until Next Season

While most of the Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up to face the New York Yankees in the World Series starting Friday, pitcher has no choice but to focus on getting ready for next season. Although he can still support his teammates during the series, he won’t be able to return to the field until spring training.

He has been sidelined since August due to elbow inflammation, which landed him on the injured list for the second time this year. The Dodgers initially hoped he could recover in time for the playoffs, but his elbow didn’t heal sufficiently. By mid-September, they made the decision to shut him down for the rest of the season.

Despite being limited to the bench, Tyler Glasnow reported that his elbow has shown significant improvement.

“I just had it re-imaged recently, and after a month of not throwing, it looks fully healed. I’m just excited to be ready for next year,” Glasnow shared on Foul Territory.

He also gave more details about his plans for the offseason.

“The healing has been quick and looks good,” he said regarding his elbow. “The main adjustment I’ll make is to keep my arm active throughout the offseason. I’ll start doing plyometric exercises in November and aim to throw twice a week. As I ramp up in December, January, and February for spring training, I’ll get back into my regular routine. I don’t plan on taking a long break from throwing; I want to keep my arm used to the workload.”

Heading into his second year with the Dodgers, the 31-year-old aims to maintain better health. Glasnow had a strong season when available, starting the year as the team’s Opening Day pitcher. He made a career-high 22 starts, posting a 3.49 ERA and 168 strikeouts, but injuries once again kept him from contributing in the postseason.
