Southampton are preparing to grant Ally Graham a second trial term.
Last April, the goalkeeper spent time on trial with the Saints, where he trained with the club at the age of 14.
The kid is presently a member of Dundee’s youth program, where he has established himself as a promising young player.
He was called up to the Scotland U16 team ahead of the November international break, where they would face the Republic of Ireland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, having previously played for the team.
However, he is set to return to St. Mary’s before the break for a second trial with the Championship side.
Who is Ally Graham?
The youngster is a developing young prospect who is already gaining worldwide attention and transfer interest.
The shot stopper is only 15 years old and has yet to make the transition to senior football.
However, based on his present trajectory, he won’t have to wait long for his senior debut, with expectations growing that he can go on to have a successful career.
He is still at the Dundee junior program, but he is already attracting a lot of transfer interest.
Graham was also linked with a trial at Aston Villa in the Premier League earlier this year, with Unai Emery’s side taking a closer look at the goalkeeper.
It is understood that a number of other clubs in England are keeping an eye on the youngster’s growth, which means the Saints may face hard competition if they attempt to recruit the adolescent from Dundee on a permanent basis.
Signing the goalie would be a long-term investment, as the 15-year-old is likely still a few years away from breaking into a senior first-team squad, despite the high degree of interest in his talents.
How have Southampton started this season?
When Southampton first took Graham on trial earlier this year, he was in the Premier League, but the Saints have since slipped to the Championship.
This season, Russell Martin’s side hopes to contend for promotion back to the top flight.
Following their 2-1 win over Hull City last weekend, the Saints are currently ninth in the league.
The south coast club is back in action this evening as they travel to fourth-placed Preston North End.
If other outcomes go their way, Martin’s team might move up to third place in the table.
Would Ally Graham be an exciting signing for Southampton?
It is far too early to judge whether he is a potential number one for a club the caliber of Southampton, and putting that type of responsibility on him could stifle his growth.
However, the fact that his exploits have already garnered such notice at this early point of his career is surely thrilling for the youngster.
Goalkeepers are now such an integral aspect of the contemporary game that clubs should be scouting the most promising young players.
A relocation to England would be a tremendous step in Graham’s life, let alone his profession, therefore this trial is a huge chance for him.
